TORREVIEJA, SPORTING ALFAS AND LA MANGA TAKE PART IN JUNIOR MATCH

Torrevieja CC recently held a Cricket match between Torrevieja Juniors and a joint team from Sporting Alfas CC and La Manga CC Juniors.

On a crisp cold morning the Torrevieja team done a grand job to get the pitch laid and ready for start of play, Torrevieja won the toss and decided to field.

The Torrevieja bowlers got straight in to the action by by picking up a couple of wickets in the first 5 overs as the Alfas / La Manga batsmen struggled with the low bounce of the wicket.

This continued throughout the innings with only one partneship restored some faith with the joint team being bowled out for 58, although the joint team were disapointed with their score they still felt thay had a chance with the pitch being dificult to play on

The Torrevieja team played well to begin with but after a couple of run outs the pressure stated to build on the home side where they got to 41 for 6 with victory in sight until the opening bowlers came back on for the joint team and broke through the Torrevieja batsman leaving the home side stranded 14 runs short.

It was a great game played in a fantastic spirit with boys aged 18 to 8 years of age all contributing, all three teams will be compeating in an indoor league as well as a Street 20 League at the begining of the new year.
